Don started his registered shooting in 1975 and since then he has registered over 145,000 singles, 140,000 handicap and 98,000 doubles targets. This total of over 383,000 targets makes him one of the more prolific shooters in state history.

Don has won six state champion and RU titles: singles champ in 2005, RU in 1978. Dbls champ in 1996, RU in 1998. RU HOA in 2004. Vet singles champ in 2004. He had high handicap average in 1986 and has been on three All State first teams and twenty All State second teams. He earned his AA-27-AA pin and was the fifth Montanan to achieve the Grand Slam.

Don has won numerous OS, zone and satellite grand titles. Major titles at the Grand American include RU vet clay target champion, RU vet preliminary handicap and vet zone champion of champions. He was a member of the vets first team All American in 2005 and 2006 and Sr. vet first team All American in 2008.

Along with his shooting skills he has been a main stay in the Billings and Huntley trap clubs. Don was president of the M.S.T.A. and organized and ran several state shoots in Billings. He was also instrumental in revitalizing the Montana State Hall of Fame and establishing the current guidelines used for selection by the Hall of Fame committee and current criteria for induction.
